Before Keepers of the Mats ever releases its first episode, we want to take a moment to share why this podcast exists, what you can expect, and what we hope you’ll feel when you listen.
This show was born out of community. At Tried & True Jiu Jitsu in Muncy, Pennsylvania, we’ve built something special — a culture that reaches far beyond the mats. Every student, coach, and friend who walks through our doors carries a story. Those stories are powerful. They’re about growth, struggle, resilience, and transformation. Keepers of the Mats is our way of making sure those voices are heard, and that the lessons we learn here can inspire anyone, anywhere.
The mission of this podcast is simple: to showcase the real people behind the belts. Jiu Jitsu may be the setting, but the heart of this project is about life. It’s about how training helps people face their fears, handle loss, build confidence, and discover parts of themselves they never knew existed.
Some of the conversations will feature longtime practitioners and coaches who’ve dedicated decades to martial arts. Others will highlight everyday people who simply wanted to try something new and found healing, strength, and community along the way.
You’ll hear from voices like:
Each episode is about more than just technique. It’s about the human side of training — the victories, the struggles, the laughs, and the lessons. Together we’ll explore:
These aren’t polished highlight reels. They’re honest, real, and sometimes messy. But they’re also inspiring — and that’s exactly why we want to share them.
When you press play on Keepers of the Mats, we want it to feel like you’ve pulled up a chair right next to us.
This podcast is about people. It’s about what happens when we face our struggles, push through doubt, and grow stronger together.
So before episode one even arrives, know this: Keepers of the Mats is more than just a podcast. It’s a celebration of the lives being shaped through Jiu Jitsu every single day. It’s about honoring our students, coaches, mentors, and friends who make Tried & True Jiu Jitsu what it is. And it’s an invitation for you — whether you’re part of our tribe or just curious about what Jiu Jitsu can do for you — to be part of the conversation.
Because the mats teach us humility, the mats keep us accountable, and the mats remind us that together, we are capable of so much more than we think.
Welcome to Keepers of the Mats. We can’t wait for you to hear the stories.
